Kristin Mattias (Soumya)

Soumya Kristin Mattias took her first Vedic yoga class at the Sivananda Yoga Center, San Francisco and was inspired by the authenticity of the teachings, community and the spirit of seva. She took yoga and meditation trainings at Sivananda and decided to pursue a path of Ayurvedic studies. She is a current student of Ayurveda, Yoga and Vedanta and has been studying at Vedika Global with Acharya Shunya ji since 2012. She is a Vedika certified Ayurveda Public Health Educator and has been studying Vedanta since 2014. Soumya serves as Vedika's Satsangha and Seva Coordinator. She is also a facilitator of Vedika's Awakening Community Circles and brings forward Acharya Shunya's 5 point Mandate (Pancha Viniyoga) for Personal and Community Emotional and Social Health.

Soumya apprenticed in Vedika's kitchen and has spent a lot of time learning authentic Ayurvedic cooking and nutrition with master Chef Sanaji ji. She uses her experience and teachings as a private Ayurvedic chef, and enjoys cooking nourishing foods in different community settings. Previously, she was a school Chef and Food Manager at her children's Waldorf inspired school where she created a vegetarian Food Program and created farm to table organic food experiences for the student body.

She recently merged her interests of Ayurveda health education, Ayurveda cooking and nutrition, and social work background and started a small business, Mother Ayurveda Healing (MAH) www.motherayurvedahealing.com, supporting mothers and families. Her mission is to nourish and rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit health of mothers and families through application of authentic Ayurvedic wisdom. As a mother of 3 small children, she incorporates Ayurveda and Vedic teachings into her families daily lifestyle and diet.

Soumya is continually inspired by the Vedic sciences and the connectivity it reveals to our inner Self and to each other.
