We are delighted to host an evening of dance with bharatanatyam dancer Priyadarshini Govindarajan who is visiting from India. This special San Francisco program will feature her expressive depiction of the Hanuman Chalisa.

 

Priyadharshini Govindarajan

Priyadharshini  Govindarajan  is a disciple of Guru Sri.A. Lakshman after having been trained in Bharatanatyam by Guru Sri.J. Suryanarayana moorthy in her formative years. She is an alumnus of P S B B S S – K K Nagar and has been a regular performer for her school. She was a Bharath Kalachar Scholarship awardee from 2004 to 2012, received the Best Dancer award in her school in 2004, has performed on the Bharath Kalachar stage in group programs.

In 2007, Priyadharshini performed her Arangetram to critical acclaim by eminent Gurus Smt Jayanthi Subramanian, Smt. Sreekala Bharat and Smt. Radhika Shurjit in the august presence of Smt. Y.G.mParthasarathy, Dean and director PSBB schools, whose appreciation she cherishes.

She has performed in the Nada Neerajanam program at Tirumala in Feb 2011 along with her Guru and co-disciples which was directly telecast.

While on a personal visit to Australia in the year 2005, she performed under the auspices of Bharatakalanjali Dance School, Melbourne, to wide appreciation. She has won First prize in the Tha ka Dhi mi Tha program on Jaya TV. She has participated in an All India Dance competition conducted by the Akhil Bharatiya Sanskrutik Sangh in Pune, in May 2008 where she was awarded a prize.
