An increasing number of people with diabetes mellitus are turning to yoga in an effort to keep their condition under control and improve overall quality of life. Yoga can do more than just relax your body and mind—especially if you’re living with diabetes.
Research has shown that yogic stretching, relaxation and meditation can benefit a person's health in many ways, including improved control of blood glucose levels and reduced blood pressure. Regular practice may even help reduce your risk for other complications of diabetes, such as heart disease.
Whether you suffer from diabetes, pre-diabetes or are worried about your sugar intake, you are welcome to join this class.
Students practice moderately dynamic movements with emphasis on relaxation in the posture and steady, rhythmic breath. The sequence will also address balance.
